Today’s Daybreak Farms Origin
Daybreak Farms was founded in 2001 under AFGRI, the leading agricultural solutions and industrial foods company. Now wholly owned by Asset Manager Public Investment Corporation (PIC), the entity underwent a sale in 2015 resulting in a 54% ownership by AFPO Consortium; 36% by the PIC on behalf of its clients', and 10% by employees and management.
PIC is a state asset management company on behalf of its clients, which manages the retirement funds of most South African public servants. In 2018, it acquired a 100% stake in Daybreak Farms on behalf of UIF and Compensation Fund (CF) who each hold 33.33% equity, and the remainder is held by the Government Employees Pension Fund.
With approximately 3500 employees across its operations, Daybreak Farms produces a wide range of poultry products from its operations in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and KwaZulu-Natal.
